As Eurohoops reported before Euroleague’s Final Four, CSKA Moscow‘s coach Ettore Messina had decided to continue his career in the NBA and his most possible destination was the Spurs. This report was confirmed today by Italian sources in “Corriere Di Bologna” newspaper and that’s not the end of it.
According to Eurohoops sources, one more non American former player is expected to be added in coach Popovich staff as an assistant coach, former Australian national team captain Matt Nielsen who had a long and succesful career in European club level. Of course the deals will be officially announced after the end of the season.
UPDATE: San Antonio’s GM R.C.Buford denies that there have been conversations with Ettore Messina at this point: “We have not had one conversation with anyone about a coaching position for next season”.
