Erik Murphy and Sasu Salin scored 19 points each as Finland surprised European champion France and got the 76-67 win in the first preparation game for the upcoming Eurobasket for both teams. Also, Germany beat Italy.
Tony Parker scored 14 points for “Les Bleus”, while Boris Diaw and Nicolas Batum were missing because of the NBA Africa Game. Still, Finland got a big moral boost and made the home crowd at Τampere proud.
In the final of Trentino Cup, Germany edged Italy 69-68 in one more game in which the NBA players for both sides were missing. Still with Robin Benzing scoring 15 points the guests managed to beat the hosts of the tournament, which missed the chance to steal the win in the last seconds. Gigi Datome was named the MVP of the tournament, despite losing the final.
