Slovenia superstar Goran Dragic was apparently impressed with the physical prowess of Belgium guard Retin Obasohan following the EuroBasket Round of 16 game between the two teams.

“Goran said that you’re the strongest player he’s ever faced,” a reporter told Obasohan during the post-game presser of Slovenia’s win. Belgium coach Dario Gjergja then mentioned: “That’s what he [Dragic] also said to me. That he hadn’t seen such physicality ever.”

Obasohan smiled and added that Dragic talked to him saying a “similar thing.” He then proceeded to explain that while he feels blessed with his physicality, he also feels that it affects how the referees make (or don’t make) calls on him.

“I found that sometimes that’s a benefit and also a downside,” Obasohan commented. “When you’re kind of built like me –  I obviously thank God for the genetics I have – but sometimes it’s a disadvantage because the referees think I can take everything. At the end of the day, basketball is a game of finesse and touch. Especially when you are in a situation you’re trying to finish plays and you get hit. That messes up your ability to finish a play. But at the same time, I’m not gonna complain. These are the shoulders I’m born with and I love them. So I’m going to keep making the most out of them.”
