Eyeing a medal, Michal Sokolowski is determined to complete the next step with Poland in the 2022 EuroBasket.

“I hope it’s not over. We keep going, that is just amazing. Right now, we can’t stop,” he told Eurohoops in the mixed zone immediately after the Eagles upset Slovenia and Luka Doncic Wednesday night, “We just have to fight, sacrifice, love each other on the court, like a family.”

The team guided by Igor Milicic was not a heavy favorite for an extended run in EuroBasket. Winning the tiebreaker in the three-way tie over the Czech Republic and Israel secured the third seed of Group D and the respective entry into the bracket of the knockout stage. Eliminating Ukraine in the Round of 16 and knocking out Slovenia in the Quarterfinals followed. Up next is the semifinal opposite France tomorrow, Friday.

“I dream about medals from the beginning. Right now, it is closer. But I don’t have it yet. I want to reach it,” added Sokolowski in the first glimpse to the next round in Berlin, Germany.

Sokolowski, 29, has averaged 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.7 steals per game in the action split between Prague and Berlin. He has been a regular with his country’s senior national team since 2017 and emerging as a mentor to the younger members of the group.
