Coming back from a nine-point deficit, Iceland managed to celebrate in front of its few fans in Laugardalshöll taking down Hungary 70-65.

As usually happens, Iceland was dragged at the rim by Tryggvi Hlinason, who had a monstrous double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The newest ALBA Berlin addition Martin Hermannsson, who returned to Germany after a few years in Valencia, had 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in his team’s victory. PAOK’s point guard Elvar Fridriksson had an all-around night of 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists.

On the Hungarian side, Crvena Zvezda‘s small forward Adam Hanga ended with a losing effort of 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The highest scorers on Gasper Okorn’s national team were Zoltan Perl and Gyorgy Goloman, who both had 12 points.

Both Iceland and Italy are now leading Group B in the 2025 EuroBasket Qualifiers following Gianmarco Pozzecco’s national team’s 87-80 victory over Turkey.
