Despite not ending in victory for Sergio Scariolo’s team, the game between Latvia and Spain was a great triumph as Ricky Rubio played basketball again.
The Catalan point guard put on the jersey after many months, a comeback that was not easy, but is already good news.
“Felt like a rookie, lots of nerves. It’s like learning to ride a bike again. It’s going to be tough, but happy. My love for basketball has always been there. It dimmed a bit, now we have to dust it off a bit and enjoy this beautiful game again,” Rubio said.
In the end, the victory went to the Latvians by a close score of 75-79.
“It’s sports: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. We fought until the end. We didn’t play a great game, but we had a chance in the end. Grateful to have this opportunity. It’s a shame about the loss, we’ll see. We had the chance to win, and it didn’t happen. Now, in Belgium, we have to win.“
