Slovenia head coach Igor Kokoskov decided to invite veteran forward Erazem Lorbek to join the team’s preparation camp ahead of the EuroBasket.

Lorbek, 33, has been out of action for three years since he last played a game in 2014 with Barcelona. Even though injury problems have prevented him to find a stable spot in a team (he only joined Limoges briefly last December), Kokoskov believes that he can help the national team in the preparation and in the player can also benefit from the practices.

“We do not pressure Erazem,” said Kokoskov. “He’s a legend of Slovenian basketball who I appreciate both as a person and a player. We decided that he’ll join the national team and test his readiness. With his help and knowledge he can help all other players.”

Of course, Lorbek is not there just for the sake of the participation in the training camp. He wants to give his best in order to win a spot in the squad that will compete in the EuroBasket.

“I am looking forward to seeing again my teammates and returning to the basketball courts. My wish is to prepare, raise the level of my game and win a place in the 12-man squad that will march to the EuroBasket, said the veteran forward.

Slovenia competes in Group A of the EuroBasket with France, Greece, Poland, Iceland and tournament hosts Finland.
