Serbia is one of the main contenders for the upcoming Eurobasket and coach Aleksandar Djordjevic didn’t hide when he was asked about his goals.

In an interview to Serbian newspaper “Blic” Djordjevic said: “Since I took over this team, I always set the medal as the goal. I did not hide because I think it’s a duty and goal, and you know me – the goal is gold. A good period for the national team is already behind us, but since the first meeting last week we act as if nothing had happened in the previous years. If we don’t have the greatest ambitions, we can not put a seal on the period behind us. We owe it to ourselves. We are satisfied with what we have done, but we know what we want”.

Djordjevic explained his belief that the roster tournaments should expand and include more than 12 players and Serbia has to prepare for the Eurobasket without Nikola Jokic, Nemanja Bjelica, Stefan Markovic and possibly Marko Simonovic. “There are ideas on how to overcome these defects, to adapt, to conceal”, said the Serbian national team coach. “We do not run away from the role of favorite. You know how I think, how much I believe in our guys. I have faith in them”.
