As reported by Oleksandr Proshuta, Fesenko suffered a knee injury that bars him from participating in the EuroBasket.

The captain of the Ukrainian national team was hurt badly enough that will require surgery in order to fix his knee.

This calamity that leaves Ukraine even more shorthanded, arrives shortly after the refusal of naturalized point guard Pooh Jeter to play in the tournament. The national team’s task to be one out of the top four in Group B becomes much more difficult, especially considering its opponents (Lithuania, Italy, Germany, Georgia and hosts Israel).

Fesenko, 30, finished the season in Italy with Avellino averaging 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds in 21 minutes per game.
