It was more a glorified practice than a game and Croatia didn’t have to try in order to beat the hosts of their group, Romania.

Croatia got to a 2-0 start after beating Romania 74-58. The quality gap between the two teams was obvious from the opening quarter. Croatia had a 20-2 run after a slow start as the hosts opened the game with a 10-0 lead. After that Romania didn’t have the tools to be competitive.

Once more the duo of Bojan Bogdanovic and Dario Saric took things on their hands and Romania didn’t have any answer for them.

The star: Bojan Bogdanovic scored 21 points on 5/8 field goals and 8/10 free throws. He is a natural scorer and that was obvious once more.

The key: Dario Saric is the back bone of Croatia and he finished the game with a double double (11 points, 10 rebounds) despite having an off shooting night. Bogdanovic brings the firepower, but Saric gives almost everything else to the team.

The bad news: Since Croatia is already thinking about the next phase in a game with an opponent like Romania the duo of Saric and Bogdanovic should be rested. That was not the case, however with both of them playing for more than 30 minutes. It’s obvious that those two are the heart and soul of Croatia and Dragan Bender (photo) for whom Croatia has high hopes didn’t deliver in this game with just 3 points.

For Romania Vlad Moldoveanu was once more the only scorer in double digits with 14 points.
