Georgia prevailed over Israel with 104-91 in overtime with and sealed its second win in the tournament. Now Germany and Italy mathematically advance to the next round.
The star: Tornike Shengelia finished the game with 25 points and 19 rebounds, leading the winners to this grand victory!
Turning point: Despite not having a safe lead to hold on to throughout the game, Israel kept the upper hand from the beginning to the end, staying up 49-47 at halftime. Three minutes in the final period, Georgia tied the score to 75 points. A second tie followed at 77 points, then with 3 minutes to go Georgia grabbed the lead, 84-81.
Dixon hit a decisive three-pointer for Zouros’ squad with 11 seconds to go, while Casspi replied to tie the score again at 89 points, then sent the game to overtime with a block on Pachulia!
The overtime was a one-team show, as Georgia had total control of the extra five-minute period.
Key players: For the winners, Duda Sanadze tapped 17 points, Zaza Pachulia scored 19(11 reb.), Michael Dixon 18 while Manu Markoishvili finished with 11. For Israel, Gal Mekel scored 23 points, Richard Howell had 19, Lior Eliyahu followed with 14.
