You can call this version of the Hungarian national team successful already since in its first EuroBasket participation since 1999 it managed to advance to the next stage after beating, and eliminating, still, winless Group C hosts Romania 80 – 71.

The Stars: Salutations to Adam Hanga and David Vojvoda who both rose to the challenge and delivered for their team. Vojvoda finished with a game-high 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists while Hanga posted 25 points plus 6 rebounds.

Romania captain Andrey Mandache scored 24 points.

Stability: Hanga put his team ahead 16 – 15 at the end of the first quarter and his team never looked back after that, often holding a lead around 8-10 points. Romania never managed to approach closer than two and make its opponents feel truly endangered. Hungary preserved an advantage that was also psychological and reached a triumphant, given its importance, result.
