After failing to qualify for the Eurobasket round of 16, Zaza Pachulia announced that he is retiring from the Georgian national team.

After three Eurobasket tournaments (2011, 2015, 2017) the 33 years old big man decided to call it a day. During the past, Pachulia played even in Eurobasket qualification games for his national team and he helped Georgia become relevant in the international basketball scene.

The team missed the chance to play in the knock out stage of the tournament by losing the tie breaker to Ukraine. Pachulia as an NBA player will not be able to compete in the FIBA World Cup qualification games and even if Georgia did qualify for the tournament, he would be 35 years old by 2019 when the next World Cup will be held.
