Even though Spain had locked in the No. 1 seed in Group C, they remained focused and picked up an easy win (64-87). Spain improves to 5-0 in this Eurobasket, while Hungary falls to 2-3, but advances to the Top-16 as the No. 4 seed in Group C.

Pau Gasol made history and became the new all-time scoring list leader in the Eurobasket. For Hungary, captain and leading scorer Adam Hanga did not play in this game.

The star: Pau Gasol was the man of the match with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Willy Hernangomez added 15 points off the bench. Sergio Rodriguez added 15 points.

The key: Since the early first quarter, Spain showed their depth, talent, experience and they had the upper hand in the game. The first half ended with a 41-29 score  in favor of Spain. Throughout the third quarter, Spain kept this double-digit lead, but during the fourth quarter, Hungary made it a seven points. Spain answered with a run of their own and the game finally ended 64-87.

Not enough: Csaba Ferencz scored 17 points for the losing side. David Vojdova was also effective for Hungary with his 10 points.

Hungary will face off Serbia in the second round. Spain is awaiting their opponent on the Top-16; will either play Latvia or Turkey.
