Virtus Bologna players have started practicing individually in the gym. Coach Sasha Djordjevic said that the training facilities are sanitized so that everyone can resume practice sessions with safety.

“We returned to the gym after a short break. We are doing everything to help athletes maintain the best possible physical shape. We do not give up, today a company will come to sanitize the gym in order to be able to continue our sessions safely so that we can find ourselves ready for a possible recovery of the season,” Bologna coach said in a video for Italian Skysports.

Italy has now been the hardest-hit country in the world by the coronavirus pandemic. According to the latest update, there are 4,825 deaths and more than 53,000 people infected as of Saturday (21/3). The overall death toll saw a spike of 793 people in 24 hours.

While some leagues in Europe, including the Lithuanian championship, have been canceled, so far there’s no such plan for Serie A by the Italian Federation.
