Austin Daye re-signed with Reyer Venezia, the Italian club announced on Friday. The extended contract will keep the two parties together for three more seasons, up to the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.

“I am excited to continue at Reyer and happy to renew my contract,” stated the former Gonzaga standout, “I consider Venice my second home. I perceive a family atmosphere, which is wonderful. Re-signing was my priority because it meant I can keep on building with the team and strengthen my bond with the club.”

Daye, 32, joined his current side in early 2018 following short stints in Israel, Turkey, and Russia, and 298 NBA games between the Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, and Atlanta Hawks.

“Reyer and Venice embraced me and love me immediately,” he said regarding his longest run with a single European club, “I am quiet. I don’t speak a lot and I don’t speak Italian, but I try to get to know everyone as much as possible.”

His second full campaign with Venezia was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic. He averaged 9.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.9 steals per 7DAYS EuroCup match, and 14.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per LBA Serie A contest.
