Partizan Belgrade coach Andrea Trinchieri was asked to take a 20% reduction on his salary for the 2020-2021 season according to Serbian website Nova.

Nova reports that Partizan asked Trinchieri to accept the pay cut due to an overall reduction of the club’s budget in the new season. A “necessary” move given the cancelation of both the 2019-2020 EuroCup and ABA League, something that affected the club also financially.

In an interview, Partizan president Ostoja Mijailovic admitted that it may be difficult to keep Trinchieri and said that the club is doing everything within its power to retain the coach.

Trinchieri signed a three-year contract with Partizan in 2018. According to Nova, if Trinchieri leaves the team, then current assistant Vlado Scepanovic will be promoted to head coach.
