Herbalife Gran Canaria matched Joventut Badalona’s offer for Jacob Wiley, therefore maintained his ACB rights, the Spanish club based in Las Palmas announced on Tuesday. Unless the 25-year-old American big receives an offer from a team outside Spain he will return to Gran Canaria.
Badalona previously presented Wiley with its offer and the other Spanish 7DAYS EuroCup team involved had the right to match it up to today, Tuesday, according to the ACB tanteo rules.
Wiley joined Gran Canaria midway through the 2018-19 season and moved on to Panathinaikos OPAP for the 2019-20 season. His campaign with the Greens had no effect on his ACB status.
As for his 2019-20 run, he averaged 5.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per Turkish Airlines EuroLeague match, also displayed 9.4 points per game in Greece’s Basket League.
