After only three weeks together, AS Monaco announced that the club has parted ways with Vladimir Stimac who will move to China and join Qingdao Eagles.

The French club will receive financial compensation for the transfer and enter the market for a replacement in the frontcourt.

“It may seem strange because I only stayed 3 weeks in Monaco but I really discovered extraordinary people. Basketball is a profession, there are offers you can hardly refuse, but in all my life I will never forget the welcome I received in Monaco and the human quality of the people who make up this club, the President, GM Oleksiy, the coach, all the staff. Every time I met supporters near the room, they had nice words,” Stimac said.

“We can’t predict the future, maybe I’ll come back one day, in any case it was only a pleasure to discover AS Monaco. The leaders understood my situation with great respect, I am extremely grateful to them. I wish the Roca Team all the best, to my teammates in this short but very rewarding passage. I hope Monaco will play for the title, this club really deserves it.”

Stimac averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.9 minutes over 13 EuroLeague games with Red Star before the last season’s cancelation. He had begun 2019-2020 with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce Beko.
