Cedevita Olimpija announced Thursday that Mangok Mathiang underwent surgery and was sidelined indefinitely. He suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his right leg during practice.

Mathiang, 27, missed the first official game of the season, but his side prevailed over Krka and captured the Slovenian Super Cup. He is expected to remain out for a large chunk of the 2020-21 editions of both the 7DAYS EuroCup and ABA League.

The South Sudanese-Australian big, former Louisville standout, joined the Slovenian team in July. After gaining his first European experience in Italy with Vanoli Cremona during the 2018-19 season, he moved on to Bahcesehir last season. Four NBA appearances with the Charlotte Hornets and plenty of G League action made out his rookie pro season.
