Mangok Mathiang sidelined returned Cedevita Olimpija to the market

Jarrod Jones was acquired by Cedevita Olimpija as an injury replacement after Mangok Mathiang being sidelined for at least six months, the Slovenian team announced Friday.

Jones, 30, a veteran of three 7DAYS EuroCup campaigns between Darussafaka Tekfen, AS Monaco, and Szolnoki Olaj returns for a fourth stint. As for the ABA League, the 2020-21 season will mark his debut.

“I am excited to become a part of Cedevita Olimpija,” he said per his new side’s official site, “A great club with a rich tradition. I look forward to an exciting season and the opportunity to add my part to the club’s history. I can’t wait to arrive at Ljubljana. I hope for a great season.”

The shortened 2019-20 season featured him attached to Darussafaka. The Ball State alum registered 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per EuroCup match, and 10.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per BSL game.

The remaining roster highlighted by captain Jaka Blaziz consists of Rion Brown, Ziga Dimec, Dan Duscak, Alen Hodzic, Mikael Hopkins, Ivan Marinkovic, Edo Muric, Kendrick Perry, Rok Radovic, Luka Scuka, and Roko Leni Ukic.

Cedevita Olimpija is scheduled to open its 2020-21 EuroCup run facing Nanterre 92 in France next Wednesday. Three days later, its ABA opener brings in Krka.
