In a quick turnaround following the dismissal of Vincenzo Esposito, Germani Brescia hired Maurizio Buscaglia as the new head coach, the Italian club announced Tuesday.

“I am happy to have been chosen by such a prestigious club,” he said, “I bring my smile, the desire to do well, and the desire to make the team play in the best possible way.”

Buscaglia, 51, was named 7DAYS EuroCup Coach of the Year in 2016 during his lengthy and successful tenure with Trento split into two separate stints bumping the Italian side from the third division to the EuroCup semifinals. He went on to coach Reggio Emilia last season, International level experience includes the Dutch national team and the Italian U20 squad.

His arrival returns him to EuroCup and meets Brescia in the last place of EuroCup Group B after a 2-6 start. A 2-7 LBA Serie A record is merely enough for the second to last spot of the table.
