Unicaja Malaga and guard Gal Mekel announced that the player will miss the next three months due to a blood clot in his lungs that was caused by COVID-19.

“I had coronavirus for almost a month. Unfortunately, we had some complications,” Mekel said in a video for Malaga. “We found a blood clot in my lungs because of the coronavirus. I’m feeling good now, recovering, starting to work out a little bit but this problem will need some medication treatment for a few months that will make this blood clot go away. I’m going to recover fully and, hopefully, the goal is to come back and help the team towards the last part of the season.”
