The veteran Cedevita Olimpija swingman landed his first EuroCup weekly MVP honor

Jaka Blazic helped Cedevita Olimpjia grab a 94-91 victory over JL Bourg with a 30-point performance that earned him the MVP honors of this week in EuroCup — a career-first for 30-year-old Blazic.

Per EuroCup:

Already playing the best season of his career, swingman Jaka Blazic took it to another level on Wednesday, dominating in Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana’s exciting 94-91 home win over JL Bourg en Bresse to earn the first weekly MVP honor of his 7DAYS EuroCup career. Blazic shone with 30 points, making 3 of 5 two-point shots, a career-best 5 of 8 threes and 9 of 10 free throws. He also collected 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 11 fouls drawn to accumulate a career-high performance index rating of 41. His 30 points and 41 PIR are the best in the Top 16 so far this season.

The two next-best performers of the week come from the same game, in which Nanterre 92 downed Unicaja Malaga on the road 82-92. Unicaja forward Tim Abromaitis had career highs of 26 points and 32 PIR to go with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 7 fouls drawn. Nanterre forward Isaia Cordinier spent all 40 minutes on the floor, collecting career-highs of 24 points and 4 steals to go with 3 rebounds and 3 assists for a PIR of 28. Three players – Bourg’s Danilo Andjusic, Vince Hunter of Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Luke Maye of Dolomiti Energia Trento – tied for the week’s fourth-best PIR with 27 each.

Individual highs: Jordan Morgan, UNICS, 14 rebounds

Blazic led all scorers this week with 30 points. Blazic and Marco Belinelli of Virtus lead the To 16 in scoring so far with 21.7 points per game. Jordan Morgan of UNICS Kazan was this week’s top rebounder with 14 boards. Morgan leads the Top 16 in rebounding with 10.0 on average. Milos Teodosic of Virtus had 10 assists, more than any other player this week. Teodosic is the Top 16 leader in assists with 8.0 per game. Cordinier, Jeremy Morgan of Trento and Marcquise Reed of Nanterre each had 4 steals this week. Fedor Zugic of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica leads the Top 16 with 3.0 steals per game. Maxime Roos of Boulogne Metropolitans 92 led all players with 5 blocks this week. Roos averages 4.0 blocks to lead the Top 16 in that category.
