As the 7DAYS EuroCup changes, the final game may get a boost by being part of the EuroLeague Final Four weekend

With a new format in place for the EuroCup and three-year licenses to a maximum of 16 out of the 20 clubs that will be part of the competition, more changes are coming that will help the popularity of the competition.

One of the ideas that were discussed at Friday’s meeting was having the EuroCup Final being part of the EuroLeague Final Four. There’s not a final decision yet on the matter, but it’s a plan that can be a win-win situation both for the EuroLeague and the EuroCup, with the final game of the EuroCup being played one day before the EuroLeague final.

It remains to be seen if the EuroCup teams will agree on the proposal. It would be an interesting addition to the Final Four celebration, one more game to watch, and a preview for things to come in the EuroLeague, with both finalists being qualified for next’s season competition.

And if only the winner of the EuroCup gets the ticket for the EuroLeague – that’s the case if a team qualified from the EuroCup to the EuroLeague makes it to the playoffs and gets one of the two EuroCup tickets for next season’s EuroLeague – then the final game would be even more interesting.

Meanwhile, the 13 teams which participated in the meeting are expected to be among the clubs which will get a three-year EuroCup license with Virtus Bologna, Partizan, Unicaja and Promitheas Patras being among them.
