Unicaja Malaga and head coach Fotis Katsikaris have agreed to continue together until 2023, the Spanish club announced. Katsikaris joined the team on January, replacing Luis Casimiro.

The announcement mentions that Katsikaris was chosen to “lead the Unicaja project in the coming years because of his work ethic and style of play, in addition to his extensive experience in the Spanish League and other European league”

Katsikaris has been a veteran in the Spanish League, having previously coached Valencia, Bilbao, Murcia and Tenerife. He made the EuroLeague quarterfinals with Bilbao in 2012.

Apart from his experience on a club level with teams like Lokomotiv Kuban, Hapoel Jerusalem, AEK Athens and others, Katsikaris has also been the head coach of the Greek national team from 2014 to 2016. He was an assistant on the Utah Jazz in 2018-2019.
