Fernando San Emeterio calls it quits.

Former EuroCup champion and EuroLeague veteran Fernando San Emeterio has decided to retire, Valencia announced. Since 2001 when he began his professional career, San Emeterio played for Valladolid (2001-2006), Girona (2006-2008), Baskonia (2008 – 2015) and Valencia (2015-2021). He won the 2019 EuroCup and 2017 Spanish League with the latter plus the 2010 Spanish championship with Baskonia.

He also won gold medals in two EuroBasket tournaments (2011, 2015) with the Spanish national team, plus the bronze medal in the 2013 and 2017 EuroBaskets, along with the silver in the 2012 Olympics.

One of the most important Spanish players of the last two decades, Fernando San Emeterio, has decided to put an end to his sports career as a player, and will say goodbye publicly in a ceremony that will take place tomorrow, Friday at 8:30 p.m. in the central court of La Fonteta, a pavilion that has seen him play during the last 6 years of his career wearing the colors of Valencia Basket.
