An individual bonus for Andrew Andrews on Frutti Extra Bursaspor’s triumph over Partizan NIS

Andrew Andrews was named 7DAYS EuroCup Eighthfinals MVP, Euroleague Basketball announced Thursday.

Andrews, 28, posted a 24-point, 10-assist double-double pushing Frutti Extra Bursaspor to the overtime win against Partizan NIS on Wednesday. His side progressed to the Quarterfinals.

Per the press release: “With a tremendous individual performance in a stunning overtime road victory, Andrew Andrews of Frutti Extra Bursaspor earned the Eighthfinals MVP honor.

In a do-or-die showdown that went to overtime, Andrews led Bursaspor to a 95-103 win on the court of second-seeded Partizan NIS Belgrade that sent the Turkish team to the EuroCup Quarterfinals for the first time. He led Bursaspor with 24 points, adding 8 rebounds, 10 assists, a steal and 5 fouls drawn for a performance index rating of 35, the best among all players in the eighthfinals. Andrews is the second Bursaspor player to earn MVP of the Round honors this season after Kevarrius Hayes did so in Round 17 of the regular season.

Semaj Christon of ratiopharm Ulm and D.J. Seeley of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica had the next-best PIRs this week with 31 each. Christon led Ulm to a 73-79 road victory against Joventut Badalona with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, a steal and 6 fouls drawn. Seeley buried 5 of 5 three-pointers on his way to 25 points and drew 8 fouls in a losing effort against MoraBanc Andorra. Maik Kostar of Hamburg Towers and Alen Omic of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, with PIRs of 28 apiece, completed the top individual performances in the eighthfinals.”

MoraBanc Andorra’s Codi Miller-McIntyre and Babatunde Olumuyiwa combining for a massive dunk of the latter earned the first spot of the Top 10 Plays of the week.

Meanwhile, Euroleague Basketball released the schedule of the Quarterfinals. The four contests will be held next week.
