Mam Jaiteh saved the day for Virtus Bologna, which survived ratiopharm Ulm with an 83-77 victory to advance to the 7DAYS EuroCup semifinals.

Jaiteh stepped up clutch to post a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds for a total PIR of 38, while he also gave his team a huge breather in the last 40 seconds when he extended Virtus’ lead to four points.

Ulm had a grip on the lead at halftime (45-43), though a 24-point run by the hosts in the third period was enough to turn the momentum in their favor. The German side did not give up the fight in the fourth quarter and took short leads, though Jaiteh was there to seal the victory for Virtus.

Jaron Blossomgame scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for Ulm, Semaj Christon added 15 points and seven assists and Thomas Klepeisz had 14 points.

Virtus is set to face the winner of the Boulogne Metropolitans 92 – Valencia quarterfinal pair in the semifinals, scheduled to take place on May 3 and 4.

MoraBanc Andorra also survived a close contest against Gran Canaria to become the second semifinalist. The Spanish side will take on the winner of the Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana – Frutti Extra Bursaspor knockout.
