Eurocup started with more than one bang and a record night for Loukas Mavrokefalidis which wasn’t enough for his team to get the win.
There were two all German showdowns in Group A with Bonn beating Oldenburg (88-77) and in group B with Ludwigsburg beating Alba Berlin (79-60) with ease! In Group D Banvit turned out to be the only Turkish team which was defeated in opening night by Buducnost at Podgorica (83-70), while Zenit St Petersburg beat Avtodor Saratov (90-85) in the all Russian game of Group E. In Group F the most spectacular game of the night was played with Red October finally getting the 96-94 win over AEK at OAKA, as the last shot of the Greeks was not made in time. Mavrokefalidis scored 42 points for the losing side, while Tony Mitchel has also a big game and 39 points. Red October and also Besiktas, Galatasaray, Zenit and Nanterre were the only teams that got a road win.
