After spending the last decade in CEZ/ERA Nymburk and emerging as the Basketball Champions League all-time leading scorer, Vojtech Hruban joined the London Lions, his new team announced Friday.

Hruban, 32, returns to the 7DAYS EuroCup after logging 45 appearances with Nymburk in the 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 seasons. Scoring talents have since been mainly focused on the BCL and powering the Czech giant in every single edition of FIBA’s top European club continental competition. Winning both the Czech Republic’s NBL and the domestic cup was the case throughout the long run, except for settling on the losing side of the most recent cup final.

The experienced small forward has been a regular representing his country at the international level as well. Following a solid run in the junior national teams, he made his debut with the senior national team back in the 2011 EuroBasket. Additional participation in major international tournaments followed via the 2019 World Cup, the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, and the 2013, 2015, and 2017 editions of EuroBasket.

The Lions have been building up a strong squad. Prior to Hruban, experienced center Kostas Koufos sealed a ticket to London. Other arrivals are Ovie Soko, Mo Soluade, Josh Sharma, and Kareem Queeley, while Josh Ward-Hibbert continues from the 2021-22 squad. The new head coach is Ryan Schmidt.

Elsewhere in the EuroCup field on Friday, Malian center Sagaba Konate inked a two-year contract to join ratiopharm Ulm. Coming up is the first EuroCup experience for the former West Virginia standout.
