Gran Canaria holds on for the overtime win over Buducnost

In a crucial game for the top of Group B standings, Gran Canaria emerged victorious, while Bursaspor, Hapoel Tel Aviv, and Trento also got wins in EuroCup’s first day of Round 8

It wasn’t easy but in the end, Gran Canaria got the big 79-71 overtime win over Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and a 6-2 record, good enough for the top of the Group B standings of the 7DAYS EuroCup.

John Surna with a three made the score 77-71 with 30 seconds and sealed the deal for the hosts in the extra time after a big fight. Surna was the top scorer of the winning side with 16 points and Andrew Albicy added 12 in a balanced team effort. Alpha Kaba was the top scorer of Buducnost with 14 points as his team dropped to 5-3.

Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv got its fourth win also for Group B after beating Slask Wroclaw by 30 (103-73). The losing side has turned into the punching back of the group with a 0-8 record and Adam Ariel with 17 points led the winners.

Behind 18 points by Mattia Udom Dolomiti Energia Trento prevailed over Veolia Towers Hamburg 85-80 and closed their distance in the standings, as the losing side has a 3-5 record and that was just the second win of Trento.

James Woodard with 24 points tried his best for Hamburg but it was not enough. In a mostly close game, Trento got an 82-73 lead with two minutes left thanks to a 10-2 run and kept its distance until the end.

Frutti Extra Bursaspor thanks to their defense overcame a bad start on the way to a 75-69 victory over visiting 7Bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys, breaking their tie in the Group A standings.

Down 16-22 after the first period, Bursaspor outscored Lietkabelis 36-21 in the middle quarters to take over the game and raise its record to 5-3

Onuralp Bitim led the winners with 18 points while Anthony Clemmons and Zach Auguste supplied 14 each, and Dave Dudzinski scored 12. Kristian Kullamae posted 15 points and Gyorgy Goloman 12 for Lietkavelis, whose record fell to 4-4.
