Promitheas Patras survived a tough battle and a much more intense finale against Paris Basketball to grab a 74 – 71 away win and recover after two straight losses.

Kyle Allman gave Paris its first lead in the second half with a pair of free throws for the 67 – 66 with 34 seconds to play and the next plays seemed like a century. Arnoldas Kulboka answered with 2-2 from the line of his own and when Allman lost the ball, Paris coach Will Weaver to protest for a foul and receive a technical. Promitheas used the opportunity of the extra free throw to go ahead 68 – 72.

It still wasn’t over since Allman won the foul on a 3-point attempt to bring his team to a one-point distance. On the other end, Anthony Cowan made both of his free throws while Tyrone Wallace and Aamir Simms missed on the other end as the final horn sounded.

Cowan scored a game-high 21 points while Kulboka added 13 points and Nikos Gkikas 11 for Promitheas that also won despite the absences of Joe Young (DNP due to recovery) and Trevis Simpson. Allman finished with 15 points (3-12 shots) and five rebounds. Simms posted 13 points plus six rebounds and Juhann Begarin notched 12 points and six boards of his own.

Another dramatic ending took place at Badalona, albeit a more spectacular one. Andrea De Nicolao hit a game-tying 3-pointer with six seconds to play and then Pep Busquets ran the court quickly and found an open Henry Ellenson who drained the 3-pointer at the buzzer to hand Joventut a 90 – 87 victory.

Turk Telekom confirmed its recent superb form by routing London Lions thanks to a particularly effective second half and an impressive offense of 32 team assists overall. In a similar fashion, Ratiopharm Ulm shot 19-36 3-pointers to win the scoring festival against Bourg.
