Pau Ribas can’t play in the ACB League playoffs due to a serious ankle sprain suffered almost two months ago, but his importance at Joventut Badalona became clear this Tuesday. The Catalan club has announced that the 36-year-old guard has signed a contract extension for two seasons, plus another optional one.
Ribas, whose contract was expiring this summer, will play for his youth club until 2026 if he fulfilled the new contract.
“When I left at the age of 22, I said that my main objective was to be able to come back here. And, when I came back to help the team, I did it to continue demonstrating the potential of La Penya“, said Ribas after his renewal. “I think it has turned out better than I imagined when I arrived three years ago. We must try to ensure that La Penya continues to climb to where it deserves.”
This season he has played an important role in the EuroCup, where he has averaged 9.4 points (45.2% accuracy on three-pointers), 1.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, despite not being able to help his team in the injury playoffs.
