The third arrival for Veolia Hamburg Towers this summer was confirmed on Thursday.

Coming out of three productive seasons in the second and third divisions of Spain, including the 2022-23 stint as a member of Movistar Estudiantes in LEB Oro, Mark Hughes completed the jump into the 7DAYS EuroCup. The 26-year-old point guard signed a one-year contract.

Forward Will Christmas and swingman V.J. King were the previous additions to the German team guided by returning head coach Benka Barloschky.

Basketball Champions League champion lands in Bourg

After a two-year run with Telekom Baskets Bonn and the injury-plagued 2022-23 campaign attached to the Basketball Champions League title, Jeremy Morgan surfacing as the final addition to the 2023-24 squad of JL Bourg returned to EuroCup. Playing in 14 games of the 2020-21 season with Dolomiti Energia Trento marked the first run.

Bryce Brown, JeQuan Lewis, Bodian Massa, Isiaha Mike, Godwin Omenaka, and Zaccharie Risacher were the previous newcomers to the team coached by Frederic Fauthoux.

The draw coming up

Placing the 20 participants into two groups with ten teams each will be the task for the draw, to be held tomorrow, Friday.

The top two teams of each group will advance directly to the Quarterfinals, according to the introduced format. Earning seeds from third to sixth will clinch a berth in the Eighthfinals. Another change compared to the 2022-23 season, the Semifinals and Finals will be contested in a best-of-three series, rather than single-game elimination.
