The weekly BKT EuroCup MVP award goes to Turk Telekom’s Tyrone Wallace

Leading Turk Telekom to a win on the road, Tyrone Wallace earned an MVP distinction in the BKT EuroCup.

Wallace, 29, was named MVP of Round 13, Euroleague Basketball announced on Thursday.

The California product netted 31 points, a new individual best in the 2023-24 campaign, lifting the Ankara outfit over ratiopharm Ulm on Tuesday. He made 10/16 from the field, including 7/8 three-pointers.

Per the press release: “With one of the best BKT EuroCup games ever played for his club, swingman Tyrone Wallace lifted Turk Telekom Ankara to a crucial victory and earned the MVP honor for Round 13 of the regular season. In a 79-85 road win at ratiopharm Ulm, Wallace posted a 39 PIR that was the best of the round, his own personal high, and the second-highest in Turk Telekom’s eight EuroCup seasons dating to 2004-05. He scored 31 points on 7-for-8 three-point shooting, both figures tied for second-best in the competition this season. Wallace added 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and a block for his first MVP nod in 28 career EuroCup games.

Behind Wallace with PIRs of 33 each were a pair of players whose teams lost shootouts, Jaka Blazic of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and Aleksander Dziewa of Veolia Towers Hamburg. Blazic had 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in Cedevita’s 105-100 road loss at Prometey Slobozhanske. Dziewa put up 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as Hamburg fell 118-101 at Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv.

The top player for Ulm against Turk Telekom, big man Trevion Willams, came next with a PIR of 31 based o his 26 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. And this round’s fifth-best PIR of 30 belonged to center Angel Delgado, who led Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul to a 72-59 defeat over Wolves Vilnius with his 16 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists.”

A crazy sequence of back-to-back blocks by Rayjon Tucker of Umana Reyer Venice ranked first in the weekly Top 10.
