Bahcesehir Koleji has signaled its immense ambition for the upcoming 2026-27 season by reaching an agreement with Sasha Djordjevic.

The Turkish club is determined to construct a highly competitive roster capable of challenging for top honors, and they have secured the experienced Serbian tactician for the head-coaching position.

Following information about talks originally reported by Meridian Sport, Eurohoops has confirmed negotiations have concluded successfully, and Djordjevic will officially assume technical leadership for the campaign ahead.

The move represents a major statement of intent for the Istanbul outfit as they look to elevate their status both domestically and on the European stage. They are expected to continue competing in the BKT EuroCup during the 2026-27 campaign, aiming to clinch a EuroLeague berth, while keeping options open for a premier spot this season.

A former EuroLeague champion as a player and Basketball Champions League champion as a play-caller, Djordjevic brings an elite pedigree, having also captured domestic titles across Italy, Turkiye, Germany, and Greece during his coaching career, alongside silver medals in the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, FIBA World Cup 2014, and EuroBasket 2017 as the selector of the senior national team of Serbia.

This tactical change comes as the squad, currently under the guidance of Marko Barac, battles in the Semifinals of the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Playoffs 2026, trailing Besiktas Gain 1–0 in the best-of-five series. Earlier on the 2025-26 schedule, the team’s continental journey ended with a sweep by Besiktas in a best-of-three series of the EuroCup Semifinals.
