As officially announced, the BKT EuroCup will expand to 32 teams beginning with the 2026-27 season, introducing a new competition format. More than 40 clubs reportedly expressed interest in securing a place in the tournament.
While the full list of participants has not yet been officially revealed, Napoli Basketball is expected to be among them. The club’s ownership group, Underdog Global Partners, stated in a press release that Napoli will compete in the EuroCup next season.
“We are thrilled to share that for the first time in 20 years, Napoli Basketball will be playing in the EuroCup.
Inclusion in the EuroCup is powerful validation of the UGP model and a major step forward in our mission to elevate Napoli Basketball into a globally recognized franchise. Competing on the European stage will expand the club’s reach, raise its profile, and create meaningful opportunities for growth both on and off the court.”
The Italian side has been building an ambitious project under owner Matt Rizzetta, who recently told Eurohoops that the club’s goal was to join the international stage starting from the 2026-27 campaign.
The revamped EuroCup will feature four groups of eight teams in the regular season, followed by the Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, with all playoff rounds played in best-of-three series.
