Former Serbia national team coach takes over the EuroCup semifinalists

Bahcesehir has officially announced Aleksandar Djordjevic as its new head coach, following the departure of Marko Barac.

The Istanbul-based club confirmed the appointment on Thursday, welcoming the 57-year-old Serbian coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Djordjevic arrives with extensive experience at both club and national team level. During his coaching career, he has led teams such as Bayern Munich, Fenerbahce, Olimpia Milano, Panathinaikos and Virtus Bologna, while also coaching the national teams of Serbia and most recently China.

His biggest club successes came with Virtus Bologna, where he won the Basketball Champions League and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.

Bahcesehir reached the semifinals of both the EuroCup and the Turkish Super League last season. The club now hopes to take another step forward under Djordjevic’s leadership as it prepares for a new campaign in Turkey and Europe.
