Maxima Roma has officially solidified its competitive ambitions for the upcoming 2026–27 season by confirming the signing of experienced American guard Xavier Moon to a one-year contract.
Wednesday’s announcement comes directly on the heels of other updates for the newly established club, following the appointments of head coach Matteo Cotelli and veteran center Miro Bilan. Moon, an explosive six-foot playmaker with notable NBA experience, arrives to anchor the backcourt for the ambitious Italian franchise.
“I’m really excited to join the team next season. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Rome. I can’t wait to make my mark in the EuroCup and work alongside my teammates to bring great success to the city and the club. I can’t wait to get there and get to work,” said the newcomer.
Debuting in the BKT EuroCup and Italy’s LBA UnipolSai, the 31-year-old guard arrives boasting an impressive international pedigree, most recently dividing his time between the Winnipeg Sea Bears in the Canadian Elite Basketball League and Zenit in the VTB United League. Celebrated as one of the most dominant forces in Canadian basketball history, Moon secured three consecutive CEBL Player of the Year awards from 2019 to 2021. The Morehead State alumnus also brings valuable North American experience, having logged 28 NBA regular-season appearances for the Los Angeles Clippers alongside a standout career in the G League.
The new club was established through the acquisition and relocation of Germani Brescia’s sporting license by American entrepreneur Paul Matiasic. More roster signings are expected soon.
