Amar Alibegovic has completed the BKT EuroCup roster of Baglietto Derthona Tortona. The Italian club officially welcomed the 31-year-old forward on Thursday.
Per the press release: “Derthona Basket announces that it has signed a multi-year agreement with athlete Amar Alibegović.
Amar was officially presented today during a press conference at the Nova Arena in Tortona, alongside other new arrivals to the Lions over the summer: Giordano Bortolani, Aljami Durham, Dante Maddox, Giulio Gazzotti, Karim Jallow, and Paul Eboua, with whom he also shared a recent experience in Trapani.
A 206 cm power forward, the Bosnian born in 1995 with an Italian basketball background comes from the last season split between Trapani and Granada, a team in the Spanish top league with which he produced 12.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in over 24 minutes on average in the 20 games played.
Son and brother in the same family, and cousin of NBA player Luka Garza, Amar’s high-level professional basketball career includes a Scudetto, a EuroCup, and an Italian Super Cup with Virtus Bologna, as well as a league title, a Slovenian Cup, and a Slovenian Super Cup with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana. The new Juventus signing is an important member of the Bosnian national team, for which he has made 30 appearances so far.
His debut for Derthona – where his brother Mirza also played in the past – will coincide with his league debut in the LBA Serie A SisalClub next Sunday at the Nova Arena against Tezenis Verona.

But overall, I’m very happy to be joining a club like Derthona. Our ambitions as a team are to win, to win as many as possible, and I want to bring more energy and leadership to give this group my best contribution so they can have a high-level season.”
Commenting on Amar’s arrival, General Manager Gianmaria Vacirca was present at the club’s press conference: “It’s been a goal we’ve been pursuing for a while now. He’s been a player we’ve been keen to join for a long time, and so we’re thrilled to be able to begin this multi-year journey with him.””
