Six days after a strong letter towards FIBA the Slovenian basketball federation send one more, this time following FIBA’s wishes.

Slovenia no longer supports ABA Liga and will sanction any Slovenian club playing either in Eurocup, or the Adriatic League from its domestic competitions. According to Yugobasket the president of Slovenian Federation Matej Erjavec explained this turn of events in the following way:  “FIBA gave us “friendly tip” that we & Spain might be banned from international competitions. It’s because we and the Spanish Federation were too sharp and direct in our replies to their initial letters. So we will now send them a new letter, with only 3 rows of text, saying that we don’t support ABA and Eurocup anymore”. Meanwhile there are reports about possible changes to the ABA Liga format, or even a “new” form of ABA Liga, in order to comply with FIBA’s wishes.
