Kurtinaitis, the most successful coach in 7DAYS EuroCup history will stay in Vilnius for the upcoming season.

Lietuvos Rytas and head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis have reached an agreement to remain together for another season.

A legendary shooter, Kurtinaitis won an Olympic gold medal with the Soviet Union in 1988 and two bronze medals with Lithuania in 1992 and 1996. He started his coaching career with Gala Baku of Azerbaijan and also worked for Ural Great of Russia, Sakalai Vilnius of Lithuania and Slask Wroclaw of Poland before joining Rytas in 2008.

In his first stint with the club, Kurtinaitis not only helped Rytas win its second EuroCup title, but also led it to back-to-back Lithuanian League and Cup doubles as well as the Baltic League trophy in 2009. Kurtinaitis went on to coach VEF Riga of Latvia before joining Khimki in March 2011. He immediately delivered by leading the team to its first VTB League title in 2011. He started the 2016-17 season with Pallacanestro Cantu, re-joining Rytas in February.
