Zenit St. Petersburg signed point guard Nicolas Laprovittola for the coming season with an option for a second season.

27-year-old Laprovittola split the past season between Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and San Antonio in the NBA. He averaged 2.7 points and 2.2 assists in 14 EuroLeague games off the bench for Baskonia and 3.3 points and 1.6 assists in 18 games for San Antonio.
Laprovittola started his career in 2007-08 with Atletico Lanus of his native Argentina, where he played for six seasons before moving to Brazil to join Flamengo. After that, he moved to Europe to play with Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in Lithuania and Estudiantes in Spain.
His trophy case includes the 2014 FIBA Americas League and the 2015 Intercontinental Cup, which he won with Flamengo, and the 2016 Lithuanian Cup, which he took with Rytas. He is a member of the Argentinian national team, with which he has medaled four times, including the gold at the 2012 South American championship and the silver at the 2015 Americas championship.
