Gran Canaria officially announced the signing of Israeli combo guard Gal Mekel for the 2017/2018 season. He’s expected to handle most of the playmaking duties of the team along with veteran Albert Oliver.
Mekel arrives to Las Palmas from Tel Aviv where he spent the previous season playing for Maccabi. He averaged 4.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game in EuroLeague.
In his new squad he’ll find Maccabi teammate DJ Seeley who returned to Gran Canaria following a one-year stint with the Israelis.
