Garrett, Vujacic lead Turin past Bayern Munich

With Garrett’s all-around impressive performance Fiat Turin defeated Bayern Munich at home to start off the new year.

On Day 1 and the first game of the Top-16 7Days EuroCup competition for Group F, Fiat Turin defeated FC Bayern Munich 90-76, thanks to a great performance from Diante Garrett.

The star: Undoubtedly, Diante Garrett was the star of this game. The 29-year old point guard finished with 21 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and six steals (career-high). Sasha Vujacic added 17 points and six rebounds.

The game: Since early on in the game, the home side had an early lead, but increased it in the second quarter to double-digits (35-23) (14:00). With Garett’s incredible first half (12 pts, 5 asts, 5 steals) and Patterson adding to the mix (8 points, 4 rebs), for the home team, Auxillium Torino had a 14-point lead (46-32).

In the second half, the home team had control of the game and continued building on this deficit with Vujacic having the ‘hot hand’ (55-39) at 24′. The third quarter ended 69-57. In the final period, Bayern tried to come back, with Booker’s push, but with Vujacic, Patterson, and Garrett continuing to score, Torino, hold off the visitors until the final buzzer.

Not enough: For Bayern, Devin Booker finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds but he also had six turnovers. Reggie Redding added 10 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
