Two days after the initial report, the 49 years old coach is hired. Mahmuti has a long resume as the former coach of Anadolu Efes (2001-2007, 2012-13), Benetton Treviso (2007-2009), Darussafaka (2014-2016) and also of his new team, Galatasaray between 2010 and 2012.
He was the EuroCup coach of 2009 and has also won four Turkish league titles as the coach of Anadolu Efes (2002-2005). He is considered one of the best Turkish coaches and he has a difficult task ahead of him, to turn around a mediocre season for Galatasaray.
Mahmuti’s contract ends in the summer of 2019.
