Lokomotiv Kuban nearly blew a 20-point lead completely against Cedevita in Krasnodar and almost fell victim to a major upset but ultimately prevailed 69 – 64 for Round 3 of the EuroCup Top 16 and remained the only perfect team with a 10 – 0 record.
After the Russian squad went up 56 – 36, eight minutes into the second half, Cedevita rallied to make it 65 – 64 with 22 seconds left.
Yet a pair of free throws by Ryan Broekhoff plus Damir Markota’s missed 3-pointer that followed put a stop to the Croatians’ comeback efforts that were left undone.
Frank Elegar had 20 points plus 9 rebounds while Trevor Lacey scored 19, including the bucket that sealed his team’s win with few seconds left.
Demetris Nichols and Damir Markota dropped 14 points apiece for Cedevita that remains winless in Group G. Loko is first with 3 – 0.
