Vasily Karasev stays with Zenit St. Petersburg.

Zenit St. Petersburg announced that head coach Vasily Karasev extended his contract with the team for one year with an option for another season. Karasev has been the head coach of Zenit since 2014.

Per EuroCup Basketball:

One of the longest-tenured head coaches in 7DAYS EuroCup is staying with his team, as Zenit St. Petersburg and head coach Vasily Karasev agreed to an extension for one season, with an option for the second one, the club announced on Friday night. Karasev, 47, has spent his entire coaching career with the same club, first with Triumph Lyubertsy, then with Zenit, which is Triumph’s legal successor. In the past four seasons since the club moved to St. Petersburg, Karasev guided Zenit to a 41-30 record in the competition, including a pair of EuroCup quarterfinals appearances in each of the past two seasons. Karasev is a playing great who finished his successful playing career as a player/assistant with Triumph in the 2008-09 season. He served as an assistant with the club for couple more years, before taking over as a head coach in the 2012-13 campaign. That was also his first season in the EuroCup, where he so far coached in a total of 83 games, more than any other coach since 2012. He also served as Russia national team coach, and a coach of Russia’s U20 national team. During his playing career, Karasev helped the Russian national team win the silver medal at 1994 and 1998 World Championships, a silver at EuroBasket 1993 and the bronze medal at EuroBasket 1997.
