Rytas started the 7DAYS EuroCup season in group D with a bang yesterday – and a notable mention to Eurohoops power rankings – after beating Unicaja Malaga and tonight coach Larry Brown’s team (photo) almost escaped with the road win.

Fraport Skyliners came out on top against Fiat Turin, getting the 88-85 home win after overtime. Erik Murphy scored 19 points while Jason Clark added 16. Shawn Huff helped with 14 points while also ‘banking’ a crucial three in the overtime for an 84-82 lead.

For the losing side, Jamil Wilson scored 19 in addition to James McAdoo’s 17 points.

The MVP of the group and the night, however, was Maurice Ndour. The former Knick shined against Mornar Bar scoring 29 points while shooting 11/12 from the field and leading Unics Kazan to a 97-74 road win.

Unics created a double-digit lead (28-18) after the first ten minutes, eventually going on the halftime break with a 51-38 lead. They kept the control in the second half also gradually increasing their lead and securing the game.

Raymar Morgan added 14 points and Jamar Smith scored 12. On the other side, Bronson Koenig scored 19 points (5/8 three-pointers) in addition to Strahinja Micovic’s 13 points.
